The Goal of Business →

The loose comparison is that business isn't just about making profit anymore than basketball is just about making baskets.

To me, there is much more complexity in these statements when you compare all the working parts of an organization. The goals of the individual players and coaches on a team all vary, but overlap in certain areas. The team has a single goal to win a championship, but the day-to-day goals are much different. Because of this, the actions of teams can very greatly from team to team even though they all have the same goal in mind.

In business, all companies have a similar goal of making a profit, but some do it much better than others. The minor goals that cause their actions to be different (and more successful) are the truly important things.
