Let me begin with this first: I doubt I will vote in any future government election. I think many of you shouldn’t vote either.
Below are three common objections that non-voters (and economists) give for not wanting to vote.

Here is the idea. Next time there is a big election, you simply offer people money not to vote. You go to the polls and say “How much would it take for you to not vote in this election?” Then you start handing out cash. This giant CNN Election Money Map shows that about $1 billion was raised during the last campaigns. This does not include money raised by candidates who lost in the primaries. The election results show that about 115 million people voted in the presidential election in 2008. If you split all of the money amongst the voters, that’s about $9 a person.

I am a big fan of the pure democracy. I don’t think it ever really works in the sense that people would like it to, but it is hard to argue with the results of an untainted vote.

I saw a comedian recently who was talking about the future. He was upset, because the future we were promised as kids (flying cars, jetsons, etc.) has not really happened. So, how are we to know when we reach the future if tech isn’t that indicator he asked. His answer was a Black President, because according to TV, that will happen in the future.
