Chistmas shopping today...

I did quite a bit of Christmas shopping today, which is impressive in my opinion. I got stuff for everyone on my list but one person. Most of the ideas came without being completely given to me, but by just paying attention (and reviewing internet history and delicious). I am at a loss for ideas for the final person, but I think I can find something unique in the city. I also got myself a gift, because my headphones finally crapped out.

I had been rocking the V-Moda Duo for the iPhone. I don't recommend them (hence no link). They sound and fit good but the break. I've had three pairs break in less than a year. That is not so great. Apple has thankfully been great about replacing them, but I am starting to feel bad about it, and I wanted to go in a new direction. So, when I was at the store last weekend, I was introduced to the Etymotics top of the line pair. The look sweet, but cost $180. Too much for me. And the mic looks giant. Somehow, while searching for them online, I discovered Ultimate Buds. What could have been a tribute to beer was instead a sweet custom headphone shop. Their whole gameplan on the high end is to take the original iPhone buds from Apple and replace the earbuds with higher end ones. This is a great idea because the Apple ones have the best mic setup (ultra-small) and a good length and strong cord. And then you get a great sound. So, being the thrifty person I am, I got Sonic Refurbs. I'll put something up when I get them, but I am expecting good things. They combine the best of both worlds, and hopefully will just be off-colored or returns instead of broken somehow. And they were cheap considering what's included.

So, that is my new gameplan, but if you have read about my new purchase then you know I just got some Shure buds. Well, they went back today, and I am glad to say it was a painless process. I think this is mostly because everyone else making returns to Best Buy seemed to be trying to scam something. Guy #1 was trying to use a raincheck (30 day max) from July, and there was a woman who wouldn't return her laptop if she couldn't get cash back. She was getting full value, but in a check a week later. Not good enough for her. So by comparison, I looked great.

All of the shopping and blogging really took it out of me today. Along with work. I was about five times busier today, but managed to get done what I could. Now, I have a month to keep my eye open for the last perfect gift. I'll keep looking online, because it is freaking cold here.
