2013 Goals and Guesses

01/01/2013 01:54 a.m.

2012 was a fantastic year. I'd like to focus more on my health in 2013. Here are my goals.

  1. Continue the Vegan diet

It won't be every meal, but hopefully more than half. I've enjoyed having a more healthy diet, and am learning to cook (or find) meals that fit the criteria that are also tasty. While I don't expect to eliminate meat and dairy, I hope to have it cut back to only twice a week by the end of 2013.

  2. More physical activity

I was not very active in 2012 or 2011. While I feel like I am in decent shape, I'm nowhere near the level I was in high school or college. I have opportunity at work to get more physical activity at our gym, but that doesn't excite me very much. Hopefully I can find some activity that I enjoy.

Since I got engaged last year, a wedding is on the horizon. I'm not sure yet when it will be (or where exactly), but I know it will be great. If it happens in 2013, I am looking forward to it, but it we have to wait until 2014, that's ok too. Meg knows I would marry her tomorrow, and I know that we'll only get to have one wedding.

Here are some guesses for 2013.

  • I get married. Odds are the wedding will be this year, so I'm guessing I'll be a married man at the end of 2013.

  • Continued success at work. I've continued to move up at Schipul, and I think we will start to see some more results of our efforts in 2013.

  • A new home. Meg and I love where we live, but we may make a change as we continue to grow our lives together. We'll be happy anywhere, and I am anxious to see where life takes us.

2012 wasn't the end of the world, and now that we are past that, I think it will be smooth sailing in 2013. The year won't be without its challenges, and this year more than ever I'll have a partner to face them head-on.
